Since 1991, Lon Lane’s Inspired Occasions has served the catering needs of Kansas City’s most prominent citizens and corporations.

Catering is more than picking a menu. Every event is an experience.

Our tenured and talented event planners design menus, rental equipment, visual displays, props, floral, music and service around the themes and dreams of the client.

The 20-full time professionals and on call staff of 75 can handle events ranging from intimate dinners for 2 to major events from 5,000 or more guests.

Jaime Geer Steinman
Owner & CEO

Jaime and her husband David acquired Lon Lane’s Inspired Occasions in October of 2019. Jaime is the acting CEO bringing with her twenty years of corporate brand development, sales, service and financial experience from two nationally recognized corporations –RE/MAX franchising and Macy’s. She is motivated daily by the tenured and talented event planning and culinary teams. Jaime is most passionate about service and will continue to grow the organization’s premiere reputation for individualized event planning, creative food presentation, unique menus and premier service.

Stewart Lane
Executive Chef, Director of Culinary Operations

A graduate of Kansas State University in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Stewart is a seasoned pro in the world of off-premise catering. He served in the kitchen, in the field, and behind the scenes producing events both locally and throughout the United States. Stewart studied abroad at the Apicius Culinary Center in Florence, Italy during the 2006 fall semester, where he studied Italian cuisine, breads, and regional wines. In 2008, he traveled to Beijing, China to take his role as Supervisory Chef for the USA House where he oversaw 30 chefs from around the country. He has worked in the family catering business since he was five years old. He has been the company’s head Research and Development Chef since 2012. Outside of the commissary, he can be found writing a blog or restaurant reviews with his wife Emily.

Lon Lane III

Similar to Geer Steinman, Lon Lane took a departure from a thriving corporate career with Hallmark to pursue his passion. Beginning in 1991, Lon and his wife Marcia began catering operations from their Crestwood home until 1997 when they relocated the company to a Brookside bungalow. Lane created a reputation as the preeminent caterer in Kansas City while also having a vast and deep impact to countless community organizations with in-kind donations. He has also been instrumental in helping the International Caterers Association grow in size and scope since 1999 to become an international force in the catering industry. Lane will continue to serve as chairman of the ICA Educational Foundation through 2021.
